INTERVIEW #02

"Delivering Reliability & Smiles". Supporting the F&B industry.

Takuro Fujino

Delivery

Q1.
How did you join the company?

I discovered Kanesa Fujiwaraya and Gyohai at a joint company information session. Drawing from my experience in the soft tennis club during middle and high school, I was looking for a job that involved physical activity. Additionally, I had always admired truck drivers, so I thought the job at Kanesa Fujiwaraya/Gyohai perfectly matched my aspirations and applied. After joining, I started my career with deliveries in Sendai City, then gained experience in sales at Kanesa Fujiwaraya. Now I've returned to Gyohai and am involved in delivery operations in Sendai City. Having many opportunities to interact with customers during daily operations and hearing interesting stories that I wouldn't normally hear is one of the great attractions of this job.

Q2.
What is your current affiliation and duties?

Currently, I belong to the Gyohai Delivery Division. My main job is route delivery, where I load ordered products from the warehouse onto trucks, drive to each delivery destination, and make deliveries. Besides delivering, I also directly collect payments from customers and sometimes make deliveries using keys entrusted to us outside business hours. Being entrusted with keys is a sign of customer trust, so I always approach my work with a sense of tension and responsibility.

Q3.
Please tell us what you value in your work.

I make it a point to never forget my initial mindset. As mentioned earlier, at Gyohai, we sometimes deliver products using keys entrusted to us while store owners are absent. Being entrusted with keys is equivalent to being entrusted with the customer's "everything," and if something were to go wrong, it could threaten the customer's very livelihood. Driving trucks, like handling keys, carries the risk that even a slight lapse in attention could lead to an irreversible accident. Especially when I start to feel comfortable with the job, I return to my initial mindset and remind myself of the heavy responsibility I carry.

Q4.
When do you feel “rewarded”?

When customers express their gratitude. There are busy and challenging times, but hearing words like "Thank you" or "You're always a big help" from customers makes me feel that continuing this job has been worthwhile. I want to keep applying what I've learned from my senior colleagues and always prioritize customer satisfaction in everything I do!

Q5.
What has been your most memorable
episode so far?

The revision of the personnel evaluation system implemented in 2024 particularly stands out to me. The changes in treatment according to position were a significant turning point for me. Having my efforts recognized boosted my motivation even further, while at the same time making me keenly aware of the weight of responsibility. Moving forward, I want to not only focus on my own growth but also make further efforts to become someone who can support the development of junior colleagues.

Q6.
What do you like about the company and its atmosphere?

The greatest appeal of Fujiwaraya and Gyohai is undoubtedly the warmth of the people. In particular, I feel that the kindness of supervisors and senior colleagues is a major characteristic of this company. Having an environment where I can easily consult with others when facing difficulties allows me to work with peace of mind every day. I believe this kindness naturally extends beyond the company to how we interact with customers. The "consideration for others" that I've learned from observing my supervisors and senior colleagues is something I feel has enhanced my own customer service.

Q7.
Finally, what are your future challenges?

My next challenge is "broadening my perspective to take on a position where I can exercise more leadership." I want to grow into someone who can view the company as a whole rather than just handling the tasks in front of me, and eventually become involved in developing junior staff. To achieve this, I plan to more actively collaborate and exchange information with other departments, and also study leadership and management.
